Oversize 3/5/Rev & Underdrive Pressure Control Valve, Tool Required
O/S 3/5/REV & U/D PR CONT VAL (A6M/L/F)
Requires tool kit, that is no longer in production. Please ask us for availability.
Symptoms:
Delayed engagement
Slips, flares & bind-ups
No Forward
No Reverse
Erratic shift timing
Ratio codes
3-5-Reverse clutch burned
UD Clutches burned
Cause:
Oscillation of the 3/5/R or Underdrive pressure control valve results in bore wear that allows critical pressure loss, preventing proper hydraulic actuation of applicable clutch pack.
Correction:
Recover hydraulic control and renew shift performance by reconditioning the bore(s) and installing Sonnax oversized 3/5/R and Underdrive pressure control valve kit.
3/5/Reverse clutches in listed Hyundai/Kia units are applied in Reverse, third and fifth gears in conjunction with other clutch packs. As the 3/5/R pressure control valve oscillates and strokes over time, bore deterioration results, which prevents proper hydraulic control of the 3/5/R clutches. This can cause flares, slipping, erratic clutch apply timing, ratio codes, loss of Reverse, and burnt clutches.
The Underdrive brake clutch is applied in first through fourth gears in conjunction with other clutch packs, and is susceptible to the same excess bore wear, causing similar concerns.
Reconditioning either or both bores and installing the Sonnax oversized 3/5/Reverse and Underdrive pressure control valve kit restores normal shift operation and clutch control by shoring up the hydraulic integrity of these circuits.
