Cause:
Excess valve and bore clearance allows critical line pressure to exhaust causing high or low pressure depending on the location of the wear.
Correction:
Sonnax oversized valve and tool kits restore the correct valve/bore clearances and line pressure control as well as prevent future wear in this area.
Wear is commonly found at different areas in Ford 6R80 pressure regulator bores. Wear at the sleeve end causes high line pressure leading to broken drums, pistons or other parts, as well as restricted converter/lubrication flow. Wear at the spring end of the bore allows low line pressure and lube/TC fluid to exhaust leading to a burned converter clutch and premature bushing failure.
